For artist Zavia Walker, these landscapes hold some of her fondest childhood memories. Days spent exploring the outdoors, wandering through the bush, and visiting her aunt to pick mangoes. From the beloved Bluey mango to the sweet East Indian, mangoes were part of the simple joys of growing up in Jamaica.

 

Green Goddess was born from those memories.

 

Through rich, overlapping shades of green, delicate hints of yellow, and textured layers of paint, the artwork captures the lushness of the Jamaican countryside. Rather than painting a literal mango tree, Zavia translates the feeling of standing among the trees and surrounding vegetation into an abstract composition filled with depth and movement.
