Country Fowl is an original mixed-media work from Land of Wood & Water, a collection inspired by memories of Jamaica, the natural world, and a childhood spent moving freely through the landscape.

Built through layers of acrylic paint, the work uses different painting and application techniques to create a richly patterned surface. Hints of vivid color appear beneath warm, earthy tones, while hand-applied gold leaf introduces light, texture and dimension across the canvas.

At the center is the suggestion of a fowl — familiar, ordinary and deeply connected to the landscape that inspired the collection.

The imagery throughout Land of Wood & Water draws from things that feel almost inseparable from those memories: coconut, mango, bush, animals, earth, vegetation and the freedom of being outside all day as a child.
